Coordinating cooperation in the area of health and social protectionMission
The mandate of GIP SPSI (groupement d’intérêt public Santé et protection sociale internationale - public interest group for health and social protection in the international arena) is to support and facilitate the development of a unified French service offering in the area of international cooperation in the health and social welfare sectors.

The GIP functions as a lightweight organisation staffed by a vice-chairman and a small number of consultants.

Para llevar a cabo sus trabajos, el GIP SPSI se ha dotado de grupos temáticos :grupo informal y proteción social, grupo desarollo social y grupo Marruecos.

The idea of the GIP emerged following a 2001 report by Claude Evin, in which the current chairman of the French Hospital Federation noted the lack of visibility of French cooperation activities in the area of social protection and health. There was a need for a more global approach to efforts in this area, including a greater awareness of the health dimension.
